Daily Report

November 04 2025

On Monday we had calm and cloudy conditions in the morning but by mid day the wind picked up and lake effect rain moved through our area later in the day. The anglers we spoke with who fished the lower end of the river reported that the best action was first thing in the morning before the leaves got bad with the windy conditions. Dry but windy conditions are expected as we head through the day on Tuesday. We finally got enough rain recently that last night the release from the dam has been increased. Yesterday other anglers staying in the motel or stopping into the shop reported getting into steelhead in the mid section and upper section of river as well.  For those anglers who are fly fishing, this time of year a variety of techniques can be effective, whether you like to swing streamers with sinking leaders, fish egg patterns under a strike indicator or dead drift them, they all can proudce results depending on the day.  For those anglers who are float fishing or bottom bouncing, egg sacs or beads have produced the best results. On the real windy days, when leaves are a factor, non leaf colors such as blue, pink and purple have been most productive.

Suggested patterns:

Egg patterns: Glo-bugs, estaz eggs, sucker spawn, steelie omelet in size 6-10.

Streamers: Krystal buggers, egg sucking leeches, woolly buggers in size 4-8.

Nymphs: Rubber legged stones, estaz stones, steelhead hammer, steak-n-eggs in size 6-10.
