Daily Report

March 10 2026

On Monday we had blue skies with plenty of sunshine and the temperature reached into the upper 60's. It's no surprise that Monday night the dam release was increased to 1500cfs and Pineville gauge is reading around 2010cfs as of this morning. The mild weather conditions are expected to continue along with rain moving in on Wednesday, so keep an eye on the water levels in you plan on fishing. Yesterday anglers we spoke with who fished the lower end of the river said the water clarity did improve from the previous day. With the mild conditions causing snow melt the least amount of runoff has been in the upper end of the river in Altmar where the majority of bank anglers are going. The drift boats are taking advantage of the higher flows and covering lots of water.  In the mid to upper end of the river the normal winter holding areas such as Lower Fly Zone, below the Altmar bridge, Schoolhouse, Wire Hole, Ellis Cove, Bovines, Trestle Pool, Pineville and Sportsman Pool have all produced action depending on the day.  In the lower end of the river depending on the day,  the Town Pool, Longbridge/Staircase, Black Hole and DSR have all produced results. For those anglers who are fly fishing, anglers have had success dead drifting with nymphs, using egg patterns under a strike indicator or swinging small streamers with sink tips. For those anglers who are float fishing or bottom bouncing, egg sacs or beads have produced the best results.

Suggested patterns:

Egg patterns: Glo-bugs, estaz eggs, sucker spawn, steelie omelet in size 6-10.

Streamers: Krystal buggers, egg sucking leeches, beadhead woolly buggers in size 6-10.

Nymphs: Prince nymphs, Copper John's, Hare's ear, Rubber legged stones, Wiggle stones, estaz stones, steelhead hammer, steak-n-eggs in size 8-10.
