On Saturday we had a mix of sun and clouds with cooler conditions and the temperature reached near 50 degrees. The release from the dam is 350cfs and Pineville gauge is reading around 500cfs as of this morning. Yesterday the best reports we had were from anglers who fished the lower end of the river while getting into a mix of dropbacks and smallmouth bass. Whether your walking or in a drift boat, covering lots of the water has been the key to drop back success. With the low water conditions, the deeper holes and larger runs have been producing the best action. For those anglers who are fly fishing, swinging streamers with sinking leaders or dead drifting with egg patterns has produced steady results. For those anglers who are bottom bouncing or float fishing, egg sacs, beads and pink worms have all produced steady results.
