Daily Report
September 17 2026
On Wednesday we had warm and muggy conditions with the temperature reaching into the upper 70's. Yesterday the anglers we spoke with who fished the DSR reported that the action slowed up from what we saw earlier in the week. The majority of action was kings with singles and small pods on the move or holding in the deeper holes. Elsewhere anglers reported getting into kings in the deeper holes in the mid section. In the mid to upper to upper end of the river kings are holding in and around the deeper holes and larger runs. As far as the lake fishing goes, on the days the boats can get out, the fishing has been very good. The open motel dates have been posted on the motel page of the website. If you don't see the dates your looking for, it's always best to call and check to see if something just recently became available.
Closed By Emergency Order: The Lower Fly Fishing Catch & Release Area. From September 15 through October 31, 2026. Drought conditions have produced low and warm water conditions, therefore the Lower Fly Fishing Area will remain closed in order to help ensure an adequate Pacific salmon egg take at the Salmon River Hatchery during the fall 2026 spawning season. Any questions or concerns contact the Region 7 Fisheries office at 607-218-3767.
