Daily Report

October 06 2026

On Monday a small patch of heavy rain along with thunder and lightning moved through our area in the morning and in the afternoon it cleared up along with very high winds. With the high winds anglers said that leaves were a factor but the fish didn't see to mind.  Despite the wind, rain and leaves, the anglers we spoke with who fished the DSR reported having an excellent day, while getting into a mix of kings, cohos and even some steelhead. Other areas in the lower end of the river where anglers reported having another great day was the Papermill, Ballpark, Town pool area, Longbridge/Staircase and Black Hole. In the mid to upper end of the river anglers also reported having a good day while getting into kings in and around the deeper holes such as Sportsman pool, Pineville, Trestle pool, Ellis Cove and the Upper Fly Fishing area.  The open motel dates have been posted on the motel page of the website. If you don't see the dates your looking for, it's always best to call and check to see if something just recently became available.

On Thursday October 8th at noon Douglas Outdoors will be set up at the shop having a customer appreciation lunch. They will be grilling out, so feel free to stop by.

Closed By Emergency Order: The Lower Fly Fishing Catch & Release Area. From September 15 through October 31, 2026. Drought conditions have produced low and warm water conditions, therefore the Lower Fly Fishing Area will remain closed in order to help ensure an adequate Pacific salmon egg take at the Salmon River Hatchery during the fall 2026 spawning season.  Any questions or concerns contact the Region 7 Fisheries office at 607-218-3767.
