Daily Report

October 12 2026

On Sunday we had cloudy conditions along with scattered showers moving through later in the day and the temperature was in the 50's. Over the weekend the fishing pressure increased which is normal for this time of year, especially on the holiday weekend. The fishing continues to be very good and yesterday anglers staying in the motel or stopping into the shop reported having another fantastic day with plenty of action from top to bottom.  Over the last several days anglers have experienced some very good fishing with a mix of kings, cohos and even some steelhead. It's not always like this, so take advantage of the conditions and enjoy it while it lasts. The open motel dates have been posted on the motel page of the website. If you don't see the dates your looking for, it's always best to call and check to see if something just recently became available.

Closed By Emergency Order: The Lower Fly Fishing Catch & Release Area. From September 15 through October 31, 2026. Drought conditions have produced low and warm water conditions, therefore the Lower Fly Fishing Area will remain closed in order to help ensure an adequate Pacific salmon egg take at the Salmon River Hatchery during the fall 2026 spawning season.  Any questions or concerns contact the Region 7 Fisheries office at 607-218-3767.
