Daily Report

March 24 2019

On Sunday we had a mix of sun and clouds with the temperature reaching into the mid 40's. Over the weekend Sunday was the better of the two days and it's no surprise we saw more anglers getting out and taking advantage of the conditions. The upper end of the river between Altmar and Pineville continues to get the most fishing pressure on a daily basis. The mid section of river would be a good choice if your willing to walk and trying to avoid other anglers. The lower end of the river has also been getting a decent amount of attention but has been producing a mix of a few fresh fish, some colored up fish and some drop backs. Anglers have been getting into fish in the Lower Fly Zone, Wire Hole, Frazier's Run, Ellis Cove, Bovines, Trestle Pool, Pineville, Sportsman, Town Pool, Longbridge, Black Hole and DSR. Anglers who are fly fishing had success dead drifting with nymphs, indicator fishing with single egg patterns or swinging streamers with sinking leaders. The most productive patterns have been steelhead stones, wiggle stones, steak-n-eggs, sucker spawn, estaz eggs, woolly buggers, egg sucking leeches and conehead muddlers. Anglers who are bottom bouncing or float fishing continue to have success with pink and blue eggs sacs, beads or pink worms.
