November 12 2019
On Tuesday we had windy, cold and snowy conditions, the temperature was in the 20's and with the wind chill factor it felt like teens. We currently have a few inches of snow on the ground but nothing major. With the recent bump in water the fish didn't seem as cooperative as the previous few days. The anglers we spoke with said they worked hard for what they got and the action wasn't nearly as good as the day before. The upper end of the river between Altmar and Pineville has been getting the most fishing pressure on a daily basis. Over the last few days anglers have been getting into steelhead in the Upper & Lower Fly Zone, below the Altmar bridge, Schoolhouse Pool, Wire Hole, Ellis Cove, Trestle Pool, Refrigerator and Pineville. In the lower end of the river anglers have been getting into steelhead in the Papermill, Town Pool, Longbridge, Staircase, Black Hole and DSR. For those anglers who are fly fishing, dead drifting with nymphs and small woolly buggers or indicator fishing with single egg patterns has produced the best results. Anglers who were bottom bouncing with spinning gear or float fishing had the most success with blue, pink and chart egg sacs or trout beads.
