Daily Report

December 01 2019

On Sunday we had calm conditions first thing in the morning and anglers we able to get a few hours in before the winter storm arrived. By late morning it started snowing and the temperature was in the 20's. The majority of anglers came off the water early and were trying to stay ahead of the storm. Overall we got mixed reports from anglers, some groups were able to get into some fish while others had a tough day. Just a reminder that the Upper Fly Zone is now closed for the winter and will reopen on April 1st, but the Lower Fly Zone is currently open. Over the holiday weekend anglers reported getting into fish in the Lower Fly Zone, below the Altmar bridge, Schoolhouse Pool, Wire Hole, Trestle Pool, Pineville, Longbridge/Staircase, Black Hole and DSR. With the low water conditions the fish have been holding in and around the deeper holes and larger runs. Anglers who were fly fishing had the most success dead drifting with nymphs or strike indicator fishing with single egg patterns. Anglers who were bottom bouncing with spinning gear or float fishing had the most success with blue and pink egg sacs or trout beads.
