Daily Report

January 06 2020

Over the weekend the above average temperatures for this time of year continued and it was good to see anglers getting out and taking advantage of the conditions. We got mixed reports from anglers depending on experience level and what section of river they fished. The upper and lower end of the river seemed to have produced the best action. In the upper end of the river anglers reported getting into fish in the Lower Fly Zone, below the Altmar bridge, Schoolhouse Pool and Wire Hole. In the lower end of the river anglers reported getting into fish in the Staircase, Black Hole and the DSR. Anglers who were fly fishing had the most success dead drifting with nymphs or indicator fishing with egg patterns. The most productive patterns have been estaz eggs, sucker spawn, wiggle stones, prince nymphs, stoneflies, steelhead hammer, hare's ear and pheasant tails. For those anglers who were bottom bouncing or float fishing, pink and blue egg sacs, pink worms and trout beads have all produced results.
