Daily Report

January 24 2020

On Friday the mild weather conditions continued with the temperature reaching into the upper 40's. In the afternoon we had plenty of sunshine along with dry and quiet conditions. Overall it was another great weather day and a chance for anglers to enjoy spring like conditions. Anglers reported getting into fish both in the upper and lower end of the river. With the recent drop in water level the fish have been holding in and around the deeper holes and larger runs. In the upper end of the river anglers have been getting into fish in the Lower Fly Zone, below the Altmar bridge, Schoolhouse Pool, Wire Hole, Trestle Pool, Pineville and Sportsman Pool. In the lower end of the river anglers have had success in the Town Pool, Longbridge, Staircase, Black Hole and DSR. Anglers who were fly fishing had the most success dead drifting with nymphs or indicator fishing with single egg patterns. Anglers who were float fishing had the most success with pink and blue egg sacs, beads and pink worms.
