Daily Report

On Tuesday we had mostly sunny conditions along with the temperature reaching into the 60's. Some cooler weather conditions for during the day and at night are expected over the next couple of days. Yesterday it wasn't the weekend crowd as far as numbers of anglers, but you could notice the increase in anglers from what we saw last week.  Keep in mind this is normal for the end of September and early October. The anglers we spoke with who fished the DSR reported having another decent day with a mix of kings and cohos. Anglers who fished the mid to lower section reported having the best action. Other areas in the lower end of the river where anglers reported having some action was the Town area, Ballpark and Papermill. In the upper end of the river fish have been holding in and around the deeper holes and larger runs. If your willing to walk and looking for some solitude the mid to upper end of the river is a good choice. Anglers who fished the Upper & Lower Fly Fishing Area reported getting into some fish and said these areas did not have as much fishing pressure as the lower end of the river. Anglers who continue to have success have been covering lots of water and putting in the time.

The motel dates have been changing by the phone call and were trying to keep them updated. Just because you don't see the date listed your looking for, keep in mind that the person who literally called right before you did could of been making a change. When in doubt it's always best to call just to see if anything opened up or ask to be on a waiting list for a specific set of dates.  

Suggested Patterns:

Streamers: Comets in hot pink, orange chart, size 4. Egg sucking leeches in black or purple, size 4. Beadhead woolly buggers in black, olive, orange, red, size 6. Fishskull zonkers in black, olive, white, grizzly size 4.

Nymphs: Steelhead hammer in blue, pink, red, black, size 8. Estaz stones in blue, red, purple, rootbeer, chart, pink size 6. Steelhead hammer in blue,black, pink, chart size 6. Rubber legged stones in black, olive, brown size 6. Rubber legged Kaufman stones in black or golden size 4.

Egg patterns: Estaz eggs in blue, orange, pink, chart, purple size 6. Glo-bugs in chart, pink, oregon cheese, steelhead orange, light blue size 6. Omelets in chart, peach, cerise size 6. Sucker spawn in pink, chart, orange, blue size 6.
