Daily Report
February 02 2023
On Thursday we had cloudy conditions and the temperature reached into the 30's in the afternoon. The few anglers we spoke with reported having a slow day. The weather forecast calls for an arctic cold front for Friday and Saturday with a wind chill warning in effect. We currently have fish spread out in the river from top to bottom with a mix of fresh fish entering the river and fish holding in the normal winter areas. Anglers who are fly fishing have been having the most success dead drifting with nymphs and small streamers or indicator fishing with egg patterns. For those anglers who are bottom bouncing or float fishing, pink and blue egg sacs, beads, marabou jigs and pink worms have all produced results.
Suggested patterns:
Nymphs; Steelhead Hammer, Rusher nymphs, Prince nymphs, Rubber legged stones, Beadhead stones, Pheasant tails.
Eggs; Sucker spawn, Estaz eggs, Steelie Omelette, Glo-bugs, Steak-n-eggs.
Streamers; Woolly buggers, Conehead muddlers, Egg sucking leeches, Zonkers, Stonefly buggers.
