Monday was the calm before the storm with cloudy conditions and the temperature reached into the upper 30's. On Tuesday as the storm moves through our area we will have heavy wet snow along with windy conditions, the heaviest of snow totals are expected to be south and east of us. With the low water conditions the fish have been holding in and around the deeper holes and larger runs. The best action has been in the upper end of the river between Altmar and Pineville. The Lower Fly Fishing Area has been producing steady action on a daily basis, but is also getting the most attention. In the mid to lower end of the river anglers who are covering lots of water have been able to get into a few fish as well. For those anglers who are fly fishing, dead drifting with nymphs or small streamers and egg patterns under a strike indicator has produced the best results. For those anglers who are bottom bouncing or float fishing, pink and blue egg sacs, trout beads, pink worms and marabou jigs have all produced results depending on the day.

Nymphs; Steelhead Hammer, Rusher nymphs, Prince nymphs, Rubber legged stones, Beadhead stones, Pheasant tails, Soft hackles.

Eggs; Sucker spawn, Estaz eggs, Steelie Omelette, Glo-bugs, Steak-n-eggs.

Streamers; Woolly buggers, Conehead muddlers, Egg sucking leeches, Zonkers, Stonefly buggers.
