Daily Report

May 03 2025

On Friday we had a mix of sun and clouds along with some scattered rain showers and the temperature reached into the 70's. Friday morning the release from the dam was lowered to 750cfs and Pineville gauge was around 971cfs. The release from the dam is expected to drop again on Saturday morning to 500cfs. We currently have dropbacks scattered throughout the river from top to bottom which is normal for this time of year. Over the last couple of days we did get some reports from anglers of smallmouth bass being landed in the lower end of the river.  Whether your in a drift boat or walking the banks, covering as much water as possible is generally the key to success this time of year.   For those anglers who are fly fishing, several different techniques can be effective right now, whether it's dead drifting, swinging streamers with sink tips or indicator fishing with egg patterns, they all produce results. For those anglers who are bottom bouncing or float fishing, egg sacs, beads or pink worms have all produced results depending on the day.
