On Monday we had some scattered showers and the temperature reached into the 60's. The release from the dam is 500cfs and Pineville gauge is around 778cfs. We still have some dropbacks scattered throughout the river, with the best action being in the lower end of the river. Over the last couple of days we did get some reports from anglers of smallmouth bass being landed in the lower end of the river. Whether your in a drift boat or walking the banks, covering as much water as possible is generally the key to success this time of year. For those anglers who are fly fishing, several different techniques can be effective right now, whether it's dead drifting, swinging streamers with sink tips or indicator fishing with egg patterns, they all produce results. For those anglers who are bottom bouncing or float fishing, egg sacs, beads or pink worms have all produced results depending on the day.
