Daily Report

October 19 2026

On Sunday we had dry and sunny conditions with the temperature reaching into the 60's in the afternoon. The forecast for the next several days calls for cooler temp's at night with warm, dry and sunny conditions during the day. The fishing continues to be very good and yesterday anglers staying in the motel or stopping into the shop reported having another excellent day with plenty of action from top to bottom.  We still have plenty of salmon in the river from top to bottom and each day more steelhead are showing up. This week looks like another great opportunity for anglers to get out and take advantage of the conditions. The open motel dates have been posted on the motel page of the website. If you don't see the dates your looking for, it's always best to call and check to see if something just recently became available.

Closed By Emergency Order: The Lower Fly Fishing Catch & Release Area. From September 15 through October 31, 2026. Drought conditions have produced low and warm water conditions, therefore the Lower Fly Fishing Area will remain closed in order to help ensure an adequate Pacific salmon egg take at the Salmon River Hatchery during the fall 2026 spawning season.  Any questions or concerns contact the Region 7 Fisheries office at 607-218-3767.
