Daily Report

October 21 2026

Tuesday was another really nice fall day with plenty of sunshine and the temperature reached into the mid 60's in the afternoon. The extended forecast shows cool nights with warm days and plenty of sunshine along with dry conditions right thru the upcoming weekend. The fishing continues to be very good depending on what section of river your fishing. Anglers focussed on salmon are having the best results in the mid to upper end of the river along with a few steelhead mixed in. In the lower end of the river you still have a few anglers focussed on salmon, but the majority of anglers have switched over to steelhead mode.  This week looks like another great opportunity for anglers to get out and take advantage of the conditions. The open motel dates have been posted on the motel page of the website. If you don't see the dates your looking for, it's always best to call and check to see if something just recently became available.

Closed By Emergency Order: The Lower Fly Fishing Catch & Release Area. From September 15 through October 31, 2026. Drought conditions have produced low and warm water conditions, therefore the Lower Fly Fishing Area will remain closed in order to help ensure an adequate Pacific salmon egg take at the Salmon River Hatchery during the fall 2026 spawning season.  Any questions or concerns contact the Region 7 Fisheries office at 607-218-3767.
