Daily Report

April 19 2018

Thursday was another cold and windy day with the temperature struggling to reach into the mid 30's. We had scattered lake effect snow showers for most of the day but no accumulation. Over the last couple of days the best reports we had came from anglers who fished from drift boats. Most of the fish they landed have been drop backs and covering lost of water has been the key. Bottom bouncing or float fishing with blue and pink egg sacs has produced the best results. Most of the bank anglers have been fishing the mid to upper end of the river as well as the side channels and diversions. If your not comfortable with the high water conditions on the Salmon River, some of the smaller local tributaries is another option. Anglers who are fly fishing have had the most success dead drifting with stoneflies, san juan worms or squirmy worms. Indicator fishing with egg patterns such as glo-bugs or sucker spawn has also produced results. Warmer weather along with dry conditions are expected for the upcoming weekend.
