Monday was another cold and windy day, but with clear skies and plenty of sunshine the temperature did reach into the mid 30's in the afternoon. The good news is that Wednesday is the first official day of spring and we do have some improvement with the weather coming our way. The cold weather over the last couple of days has helped with the recent runoff and the water conditions have been stable. At this point with the weather being up and down the water level is being posted day to day which is normal for this time of year. It's not uncommon this time of year for anglers to be getting into a mix of fresh fish as well as colored up fish. With the water being up the fresh fish will be found throughout the river and holding in the transition water. The colored up fish will be staging in and around the deeper holes and larger runs as they get ready for the spring spawning process. For those anglers who are fly fishing dead drifting with nymphs and woolly buggers or indicator fishing with single egg patterns has produced steady results. Anglers who are float fishing or bottom bouncing had the most success with blue egg sacs, pink worms or beads.
