Monday was a cold day but with plenty of sunshine the temperature reached into the mid 30's in the afternoon. We did pick up a few inches of new snow during the night but with sunny conditions it was melting in the afternoon. It was the opening day of the Upper Fly Zone and we had mixed reports from anglers. Some groups we spoke with thought it was slow, they said a fish was hooked every now and then. Others we spoke with said despite it being cold they were happy hooking into a few fish. Another group we spoke with decided to get a later start with the cold weather, they ended up having a very good day. Anglers who fished the Lower Fly Zone also reported getting into some fish. Now that the Upper Fly Zone is open that generally helps take some of the fishing pressure off the Lower Fly Zone. Another group we spoke with fished the Lower end of the river in the morning with no success. Over the last couple of days the most productive patterns have been rusher nymphs, wiggles stones, steak-n-eggs, woolly buggers, estaz eggs, sucker spawn and glo-bugs.
