Daily Report

May 08 2019

On Tuesday we had scattered rain showers in the morning with sunshine late in the afternoon and the temperature reached into the 60's. Over the last couple of days the best reports have come from the lower end of the river where anglers are getting into a mix of drop backs and smallmouth bass. Anglers have been getting into fish around RT2A, Papermill, 81 Hole, Town Pool, Longbridge, Staircase, Black Hole and the DSR. The drop backs typically like the faster water and are generally suspended in the water column. They tend to hold in the head or tailouts of the deeper holes and larger runs. The smallmouth bass generally hold in the slow and softer water along the edges of the deeper holes and larger runs. Anglers who are fly fishing have had the most success covering lots of water while swinging streamers with sinking leaders. The most productive patterns have been woolly buggers, steelhead buggers, bunny leeches, sculpins, conehead muddlers and marabou spey flies. Anglers who are float fishing have had the most success with pink and blue egg sacs or pink worms.
