Daily Report

May 03 2019

Friday was another rainy day with steady rain showers in the morning and clearing in the afternoon with the temperature reaching into the 50's. Late in the day the rain showers returned along with heavy fog. The water level came down and is expected to drop again over the weekend and combined with some decent weather we should see an increase in the number of anglers getting out on the water. Over the last couple of days anglers continue to get into a mix of drop backs and smallmouth bass in the lower end of the river. The mid to upper end of the river has a mix of drop backs scattered throughout and some fish still spawning in the gravel areas. Anglers have been getting into drop backs in the Schoolhouse Pool, Trestle Pool, Pineville, Sportsman, RT2A, Papermill, 81 Hole, Town Pool, Longbridge, Staircase, Black Hole and DSR. Anglers who are fly fishing have had the most success swinging streamers with sinking leaders. The most productive patterns have been woolly buggers in black, olive, brown, grizzly and white, bunny leeches in black or olive, egg sucking leeches in black, olive or purple, conehead muddlers in brown, olive and black and steelhead buggers in peacock. Anglers who are bottom bouncing or float fishing have had the most success with pink and blue egg sacs or pink worms.
