Daily Report

March 01 2021

Over the weekend we had spring like conditions with the temperature reaching into the low 40's along with some rain. It was great to see anglers getting out and taking taking advantage of the conditions and no surprise with an increased number of anglers. The weather is expected to change with the warmest part of today being this morning with the temperature near 40 degrees. As the cold front arrives the temperature is expected to drop throughout the day along with high winds and scattered snow possible later this afternoon and into tonight. Over the last couple of days anglers reported getting into fish throughout the river. In the upper end of the river the Lower Fly Zone continues to get the most fishing pressure on a daily basis but is also producing the most action. Anglers also reported getting into some fish in the deeper holes between Altmar and Pineville. In the lower end of the river anglers reported getting into some fish in the Town Pool, Longbridge/Staircase and the DSR. Anglers fishing the DSR have reported a mix of some fresh chrome, darker fish and brown trout. Anglers who were fly fishing had the most success dead drifting with nymphs or indicator fishing with single egg patterns. Anglers who were float fishing or bottom bouncing have been having success with blue, pink, chart egg sacs, pink worms, beads or marabou jigs.
