Daily Report

September 16 2021

On Wednesday the rain that was expected didn't turn into much, we had a brief late morning down pour that turned into light drizzle. The heavy rain ended up staying south of us, but at least we had cloudy overcast conditions which did help with fish movement. We got varying reports from anglers who fished the DSR, mostly depended on what section you fished and whether or not you stood in the same place or moved around covering water. The mid to upper section seemed to produce the best action throughout the day with a mix of kings and cohos. The cloudy conditions did seem to help with making what small pods were around a little more active. The Lower Fly Fishing Area reopened yesterday and the few anglers we spoke with reported getting into fish. It was mostly kings along with a few browns but we did not hear of any cohos landed in the Lower Fly. Anglers did say that they didn't expect to be the only angler, but were pleasantly surprised it wasn't that crowded all things considered. Anglers who fished the Upper Fly Fishing Area have been getting into some cohos along with a few kings.

The boats are still fishing out deep, 130 -150 feet of water north of the Salmon River because that's where the temperature is. They have been getting into a mix of kings and cohos with echip flashers & atomik flies producing the best results.

The motel dates have been changing by the phone call and were trying to keep them updated. Just because you don't see the date listed your looking for, keep in mind that the person who literally called right before you did could of been making a change. When in doubt it's always best to call just to see if anything opened up or ask to be on a waiting list for a specific set of dates.
