Daily Report

January 03 2022

Over the weekend the water level was 500cfs at the dam and last night the water level was increased to 750cfs at the dam. Last night the temperature dropped into the single digits and as of this morning slush ice was a factor in the lower end of the river. The few anglers we spoke with over the last couple of days had some success in the upper end of the river between Altmar and Pineville. The fish in the upper end of the river have been holding in the normal winter holding areas such as, Lower Fly Zone, School House, Wire Hole, Trestle Pool, Pineville and Sportsman Pool. The anglers who are fly fishing have had the most success dead drifting with nymphs or indicator fishing with egg patterns. Anglers who are float fishing or bottom bouncing have been having success with blue and pink egg sacs, beads or pink worms.
