Daily Report

December 31 2021

We would like to wish everyone a Safe, Healthy and Happy New Year. We would also like to thank all of our customers who supported us during a challenging 2021 season. Despite Covid-19 with different variants, major supply chain issues and crazy weather conditions we were still able to navigate through all of it and we appreciate your business. We look forward to kicking off the 2022 season.

On Thursday we had cloudy conditions with the temperature reaching 40 degrees and the wind was light and variable. The temperature is expected to remain well above average for this time of year right through the weekend. Over the last couple of days the few anglers we spoke with reported getting into fish both in the upper and lower end of the river. The drift boats have been covering lots of water and taking advantage of the high water conditions. In the upper end of the river the majority of bank anglers have been fishing the normal winter holding areas, such as Lower Fly Zone, Schoolhouse Pool, Wire Hole, Trestle Pool, Refirgerator Hole and Pineville. In the lower end of the river anglers have been looking for fresh fish coming in with the higher water while fishing the Town Pool, Longbridge, Staircase, Black Hole and the DSR. Covering lots of water continues to be one of the keys to success for both bank anglers and boat anglers. With the recent higher water conditions anglers have been finding fish in the softer water along the edges and inside seams. Anglers who are fly fishing have been having the most success dead drifting with nymphs or indicator fishing with egg patterns. For those anglers who are bottom bouncing or float fishing, pink & blue egg sacs, beads and pink worms have produced the best results over the last few days.
