Over the last couple of days we had mild conditions which was nice while it lasted but the cold weather has returned. Earlier in the week we had temp's in the 50's along with steady rain so it's no surprise the water release at the dam was increased. On Wednesday the warmest part of the day was first thing in the morning, throughout the day the temperature dropped along with very high winds. As of this morning the temperature was near single digits and feels like the calm before the storm. A winter storm is expected to move through on Thursday evening into Friday. Be sure to check the water and weather for the latest updates. We did not speak with many anglers over the last few days, but the anglers we did speak with reported hooking into fish in the upper end of the river between Altmar and Pineville, but landing them was another story.
