At this point we are at the end of steelhead season and the majority of steelhead have returned to Lake Ontario for the summer. If your looking to get into any last remaining steelhead before heading back to the lake, the lower end of the river would be your best chance. With the warmer weather and low water conditions the smallmouth bass fishing in the lower end of the river has been very good. Anglers are having the most success swinging woolly buggers and leeches with sinking leaders.
