Daily Report

February 07 2023

On Monday we had a mix of sun and clouds with the temperature reaching into the mid 30's. With the drop in water level and the mild conditions we saw an increase in the number of anglers getting out on the water to take advantage of the conditions. The anglers we spoke with who fished the lower end of the river reported having the most success bottom bouncing with egg sacs or float fishing with egg sacs and beads. In the upper end of the river anglers reported having success in and around the deeper holes and larger runs between Altmar and Pineville. Anglers who are fly fishing have been having success dead drifting with nymphs or small streamers and indicator fishing with egg patterns. Anglers who are bottom bouncing or float fishing have had success with egg sacs, beads, pink worms and marabou jigs.

Suggested patterns:

Nymphs;  Steelhead Hammer, Rusher nymphs, Prince nymphs, Rubber legged stones, Beadhead stones, Pheasant tails.

Eggs; Sucker spawn, Estaz eggs, Steelie Omelette, Glo-bugs, Steak-n-eggs.

Streamers; Woolly buggers, Conehead muddlers, Egg sucking leeches, Zonkers, Stonefly buggers.
