water-temp Water Temp 35F

Daily Report

April 19 2024

On Thursday we had cloudy conditions with a few scattered showers and the temperature reached into the mid 50's. The release from the dam was lowered at noon to 750cfs and the pineville gauge is around 913cfs, it is expected to drop again today in the afternoon. The drop backs are scattered from top to bottom and covering lots of water has been the key to success. Anglers have been finding them in the head or tailouts of the bigger holes and larger runs. They generally tend to hold in the faster water and are sometimes suspended in the water column. Anglers are also finding fish holding in and around the gravel areas in the upper section of the river. At the DSR anglers have been getting into a mix of drop backs and smallmouth bass. For those anglers who are fly fishing, dead drifting with nymphs, indicator fishing with egg patterns or swinging streamers with sink tips or sinking leaders have all produced results. For those anglers who are bottom bouncing or float fishing, egg sacs, beads, marabou jigs and pink worms have all produced results.
