Daily Report

January 04 2025

Friday was another day of very high winds along with heavy lake effect snow at times and white out conditions. More of the same is expected for the weekend only with colder temperatures, continued high winds and more lake effect snow. The release at the dam has been lowered and is now running 300cfs and the Pineville gauge was reading 563cfs as of early Saturday morning. On Friday we only spoke with a few groups of anglers, one of which said they were having a tough day, while the other 2 groups said they actually did well and landed fish in the upper end of the river between Altmar and Pinville. With the heavy lake effect snow, slush ice was a factor in the mid to lower end of the river and did not clear. For those anglers who are fly fishing, dead drifitng with nymphs, indicator fishing with egg patterns or swinging small streamers with sink tips have all produced results. For those anglers who are bottom bouncing or float fishing, egg sacs, beads, pink worms and marabou jigs have all produced results.
