Daily Report
January 29 2018
Sunday was another mild day with plenty of sunshine and the temperature reached near 40 degrees. Over the weekend with the mild weather and low water conditions we did see an increase with the number of anglers on the water. The weather and water conditions over the last several weeks have been less then favorable and it was great to see anglers taking advantage of the good conditions. Most of the anglers we spoke with over the weekend reported doing very good. Anglers we had staying in the motel who fished the Lower Fly Zone reported having steady action with nymphs producing the best results. In the upper end of the river anglers who fished between Altmar and Pineville reported doing well while dead drifting with nymphs or bottom bouncing with egg sacs. Anglers who fished the mid to lower end of the river reported getting into a mix of fresh chrome as well as colored up fish. Anglers who were fly fishing had the most success with bright colored egg patterns under a strike indicator. Anglers who were bottom bouncing or float fishing had the most success with pink and blue egg sacs.
