April 15 2025
On Monday we had mostly cloudy conditions with a warm breeze out of the south that pushed the temperature into the 60's in the afternoon. The release from the dam was 750cfs and Pineville gauge is around 1060cfs. Now that the water level has come down it's no surprise the number of anglers has increased especially with the mild weather. We currently have dropbacks scattered throughout the river from top to bottom which is normal for this time of year. Whether your in a drift boat or walking the banks, covering as much water as possible is generally the key to success this time of year. Anglers are also having success at some of the smaller local tributaries as well. For those anglers who are fly fishing, several different techniques can be effective right now, whether it's dead drifting, swinging streamers with sink tips or indicator fishing with egg patterns, they all produce results. For those anglers who are bottom bouncing or float fishing, egg sacs, beads or pink worms have all produced results depending on the day.
