water-temp Water Temp 40F

Daily Report

April 16 2025

On Tuesday we had cloudy conditions with the temperature reaching into the 50's in the morning, later in the afternoon the temperature dropped along with very windy conditions as the cold front moved in.  Tuesday evening the release from the dam was increased to 1000cfs and Pineville gauge is around 1390cfs. We currently have dropbacks scattered throughout the river from top to bottom which is normal for this time of year. Whether your in a drift boat or walking the banks, covering as much water as possible is generally the key to success this time of year.  Anglers are also having success at some of the smaller local tributaries as well. For those anglers who are fly fishing, several different techniques can be effective right now, whether it's dead drifting, swinging streamers with sink tips or indicator fishing with egg patterns, they all produce results. For those anglers who are bottom bouncing or float fishing, egg sacs, beads or pink worms have all produced results depending on the day.
