April 23 2025
On Tuesday we had blue skies with plenty of sunshine and the temperature reached near 60 degrees in the afternoon. The weather is going to warm up with spring like conditions as we head through the week. The release from the dam has been 1000cfs and Pineville gauge is around 1380cfs. We currently have dropbacks scattered throughout the river from top to bottom which is normal for this time of year. Whether your in a drift boat or walking the banks, covering as much water as possible is generally the key to success this time of year. Anglers are also having success at some of the smaller local tributaries as well. For those anglers who are fly fishing, several different techniques can be effective right now, whether it's dead drifting, swinging streamers with sink tips or indicator fishing with egg patterns, they all produce results. For those anglers who are bottom bouncing or float fishing, egg sacs, beads or pink worms have all produced results depending on the day.
