On Friday we had cold and windy conditions with the temperature in the single digits for most of the day and below zero with the windchill factor. Yesterday with the cold temperature slush ice was a factor in the lower end of the river and did not clear. The few anglers who were on the water fished the upper end of the river between Altmar and Pineville. Anglers who are fishing the Lower Fly Zone have been having the most success with black stoneflies. Anglers who are bottom bouncing or float fishing in the mid to upper end of the river have had the most success with egg sacs and beads. Last night and as of early this morning lake effect snow moved through our area and we picked up roughly 6 inches of new snow.
