Daily Report

On Saturday we had mostly cloudy conditions and the temperature reached near 70 degrees in the afternoon. Cloudy conditions along with scattered rain showers in the afternoon are expected as we head through the day on Sunday. Yesterday we had increased fishing pressure around the river which was no surprise especially on the weekend. The anglers we spoke with who fished the DSR reported getting into mostly kings along with a few cohos. Overall the majority of anglers we spoke with reported that the fish just wanted to sit in the holes with very little movement during the day. In the mid to upper to upper end of the river kings are holding in and around the deeper holes and larger runs.  As far as the lake fishing goes, on the days the boats can get out, the fishing has been very good. The open motel dates have been posted on the motel page of the website. If you don't see the dates your looking for, it's always best to call and check to see if something just recently became available.

Closed By Emergency Order: The Lower Fly Fishing Catch & Release Area. From September 15 through October 31, 2026. Drought conditions have produced low and warm water conditions, therefore the Lower Fly Fishing Area will remain closed in order to help ensure an adequate Pacific salmon egg take at the Salmon River Hatchery during the fall 2026 spawning season.  Any questions or concerns contact the Region 7 Fisheries office at 607-218-3767.
