water-temp Water Temp 40F

Daily Report

March 30 2018

On Good Friday we had cloudy conditions and the temperature reached into the 40's. The previous night we had heavy rain showers move through the area which created some runoff. In the morning the lower end of the river was running off color but in the afternoon anglers reported that the clarity had improved. With significant runoff from the recent rain the majority of anglers fished the upper end of the river between Altmar and Ellis Cove where you had the least amount of runoff and best water clarity. The fishing pressure did increase which is no surprise especially for a holiday weekend. Anglers who were fly fishing had some success with  egg patterns under a strike indicator or dead drifting with rusher nymphs, black stoneflies or squirmy worms. Anglers who were bottom bouncing or float fishing had the most success with pink egg sacs or pink worms. Just a reminder that the Upper Fly Zone will reopen on Easter Sunday, April 1st.
