water-temp Water Temp 72F

Daily Report

April 21 2019

On Easter Sunday we had dry conditions and the temperature reached near 60 degrees in the afternoon. The water level is finally coming down and you can check safewaters.com for the latest update. We closed early for the holiday but the anglers we spoke with reported getting into some drop backs in the upper end of the river between Altmar and Pineville. Over the last couple of days anglers who are fly fishing had success dead drifting with egg patterns or swinging streamers with sinking leaders. The most productive patterns have been sucker spawn, steelie omelet, woolly buggers, egg sucking leeches, bunny leeches, conehead muddlers and zonkers. For those anglers who are bottom bouncing or float fishing, egg sacs,  beads and pink worms had produced steady results.
