On Sunday we had cloudy conditions in the morning and in the afternoon we had sunshine with the temperature reaching into the 50's. Over the last couple of days the drop backs have been scattered throughout the river and covering lots of water has produced the best results. The anglers we spoke with who fished the lower end of the river reported getting some drop backs along with a few smallmouth bass. In the mid to upper end of the river anglers have been getting into a mix of drops backs and spawning fish. The drop backs have been holding mostly in the head or tailouts of the deeper holes and larger runs. The spawning fish have been holding in and around the gravel areas mostly in the upper section of river. For those anglers who are fly fishing the most productive patterns have been woolly buggers, bunny leeches, egg sucking leeches, steelhead buggers, conehead muddlers, estaz eggs and glo-bugs. Anglers who are float fishing are having the most success with pink and blue egg sacs, pink worms, beads and marabou jigs.
