Daily Report

January 31 2020

On Friday we had calm and cloudy conditions with the temperature reaching into the mid 30's in the afternoon. In the lower end of the river slush ice was a factor first thing in the morning but cleared by mid day. The number of anglers increased from what we saw during the week as they started arriving for the weekend. With the low water conditions the fish have been holding in and around the deeper holes and larger runs. Anglers have been getting into fish in the Lower Fly Zone, Schoolhouse Pool, Wire Hole, Trestle Pool, Pineville, Sportsman Pool, Town Pool, Black Hole and the DSR. Anglers who are fly fishing have had the most success with single egg patterns under a strike indicator or dead drifting with nymphs. The most productive patterns have been steak-n-eggs, steelhead hammer, wiggle stones, rusher nymphs, hare's ear, prince nymph, copper john, black stoneflies, estaz eggs and glo-bugs. Anglers who are float fishing have had the most success with pink and blue egg sacs, pink worms, beads and marabou jigs.
