Daily Report

April 17 2023

Sunday was another day of summer like conditions with plenty of sunshine and the temperature reached into the 80's.  Yesterday the anglers we spoke with who fished the mid to upper end of the river reported getting into drop backs, the anglers we spoke with who fished the DSR reported getting into a mix of drop backs and smallmouth bass. The drift boats are taking advantage of the higher water conditions and covering lots of water while getting into drop backs scattered throughout the river. We currently have drop backs scattered throughout the river from top to bottom. As the water temperature continues to rise, the drop backs generally hold in the faster water and are typically suspended in the waler column.

Suggested patterns:

Nymphs;  Steelhead Hammer, Rusher nymphs, Prince nymphs, Rubber legged stones, Beadhead stones, Pheasant tails, Soft hackles.

Eggs; Sucker spawn, Estaz eggs, Steelie Omelette, Glo-bugs, Steak-n-eggs.

Streamers; Woolly buggers, Conehead muddlers, Egg sucking leeches, Zonkers, Stonefly buggers.
