April 18 2023
On Monday we had overcast skies, scattered showers and the temperature reached into the 50's. The summer like weather conditions were great while they lasted, but were now back to reality with normal spring conditions. Yesterday the anglers we spoke with who fished the mid to upper end of the river reported getting into drop backs, the anglers we spoke with who fished the DSR reported getting into a mix of drop backs and smallmouth bass. The drift boats are taking advantage of the higher water conditions and covering lots of water while getting into drop backs scattered throughout the river. We currently have drop backs scattered throughout the river from top to bottom. As the water temperature continues to rise, the drop backs generally hold in the faster water and are typically suspended in the waler column.
